4 dimensions in paper tube packaging
The measurements of custom paper tubes usually involve four dimensions that should be taken into account. These dimensions include the following:
1. Inside diameter
The inside diameter of a paper tube is the length between the two opposite ends on the inside of the tube. This measurement determines the horizontal space available for the length and width of the products that will be packaged.
2. Wall thickness
Paper tube packaging is created by spirally winding piles of paper and cardboard. The wall thickness of the paper tube package is determined by the total number of layers, which is fixed once the number of paper layers is determined.
3. Outside diameter
In contrast to the inside diameter (ID), the outside diameter (OD) is the full distance from one end of the exterior of the tube to the other end, including the wall thickness. An example is provided below to illustrate this concept.
ID: 4’’
Wall thickness: 0.15"
OD = ID + wall thickness + wall thickness
4"+0.15"+0.15"=4.3" OD
4. Length
The length of a paper tube is the measurement from the top cap's internal surface to the bottom of the tube's internal surface, which provides the available vertical space for products in terms of height.
